There are really only a few serious jet body boards that you’ll find onboard a yacht. For 10 years, it’s been either a Seabob, which is used interchangeably with the segment–and the Kymera body board. In the last year iAqua has provided another alternative with a little more towing power.

The best models are lightweight, fast, and have longer ride times. But they tend to be pricey.

Still, there are quite a few less expensive options that will appeal to water sport fans. Be weary of the really cheap options that will pop up on Facebook or other social media from time-to-time.

1. SEABOB F5 SR

Above & Below the Waves

The Seabob F5 SR is the most powerful of this German company’s lineup of jet boards. It’s really an underwater jet body board that can be used by divers, snorkelers and swimmers. For those with the means, this is probably the most premium product in the electric body board segment.

What makes it so special is its way of being both a surface PWC and underwater scooter.

2. iAqua AquaDart Nano

Max Portability

The iAqua AquaDart Nano is the perfect blend of portability and power. With speeds up to 9 mph, a 1.7 kW battery, the dual jet propulsion does impress. And it is somewhat lightweight providing performance without compromising ease of use, relatively speaking.

As a yacht toy, it’ll appeal to skimming over the surface or for exploring underwater with a snorkel. Some scuba divers might like this as a scooter too. It’s not as powerful as a Kymera, but its appeal is in the Nano name. iAqua makes a more powerful Pro model for speed and towing power.

We think it’s an impressive blend of power and portability. Unfortunately for casual shoppers, that comes at a steeper price somewhere north of $7,000.

The Kymera jet body board is lightweight and can be simply transported and be carried down to the shoreline with ease. When on the water, it has excellent buoyancy, allowing it to reach speeds up to 20 mph.

Even though Kymera boasts that it is the next generation of personal watercraft, its board is better suited for use on flat water with little or no waves. It’s a jet body board for recreational use worth taking a look at, but it demands thinking carefully before buying.
