Origin and ownership
Prestige was founded in 1989 as part of Groupe Beneteau's expansion into the motor-yacht segment. Production has stayed at Les Sables d'Olonne throughout.
The brand has stayed part of Groupe Beneteau and benefits from the parent's parts pipeline and dealer network.
Design philosophy
Prestige hulls use moderate-V planing form (typically 17 to 20 degrees at the transom) optimized for IPS pod-drive rigging.
Volvo Penta IPS is the dominant rigging across the lineup. Cummins inboard available on select hulls.
Used-market notes and known issues
Volvo IPS sail-drive seal pattern on 2017 to 2020 hulls warrants inspection at five years.
Hull-side cosmetic gel coat on Mediterranean-stored hulls in UV-heavy markets shows oxidation at 8 to 10 years.
Generator service is a 100-hour preventive item on the flagship hulls.
Beneteau Group dealer network is densest in Europe; US coverage is mid-density.
Resale
Prestige holds resale tightly in the European luxury motor-yacht segment. Three-year depreciation runs 14 to 20 percent. Five-year depreciation runs 25 to 32 percent. US resale is softer reflecting the thinner dealer footprint.
Where Prestige fits
Buyers cross-shop Prestige against Princess, Sunseeker, Azimut, and Cruisers Yachts on the European luxury motor-yacht segment. The argument is the Beneteau Group parts pipeline and the IPS-driven efficiency.
