Origin and ownership
SIC was founded in 2005 in Maui, Hawaii. The brand built around downwind paddling specialty and grew through the 2010s as the SUP-race segment expanded.
Design philosophy
SIC uses EPS-fiberglass and carbon constructions for hard boards; fusion construction for inflatable. The race-pedigree downwind shape language drives the brand differentiation.
Hawaiian-channel paddling heritage.
Used-market notes and known issues
Hard-board EPS construction requires UV protection in salt-heavy storage.
Race-shape boards require advanced-paddler skill for stability.
Dealer network concentrated in Hawaii and the West Coast US.
Downwind specialty shapes have niche appeal.
Resale
SIC holds resale tightly in the race and downwind SUP segment. Three-year depreciation runs 16 to 22 percent.
Where SIC fits
Buyers cross-shop SIC against Starboard, Naish, and Bark on the premium and race SUP segments. The argument is downwind specialty heritage.
