Origin and ownership
Axis was launched in 2009 by Malibu Boats as the value-tier wake brand, sharing production with the Wakesetter line at the Loudon, Tennessee facility.
The brand has stayed under Malibu Boats Inc. throughout.
Design philosophy
Axis uses Malibu's Surf Gate technology and v-drive Indmar inboard rigging. The platform shares hull architecture with the Wakesetter line; the differentiation is fit-and-finish and option packages.
Indmar Monsoon and Raptor are the standard powertrain options.
Used-market notes and known issues
Surf Gate actuator service at 5-year mark.
Indmar Monsoon raw-water pump impeller is a 100-hour item.
Tower hardware shares pattern with Malibu pre-2019 powder-coat issues.
Malibu dealer network supports Axis nationwide service.
Resale
Axis holds resale at the mid-tier wake average. Three-year depreciation runs 18 to 25 percent on T-series hulls. Five-year depreciation runs 30 to 38 percent.
Where Axis fits
Buyers cross-shop Axis against Heyday, Moomba, and Tige Z-series on the mid-tier wake segment. The argument is Malibu Surf Gate technology at value pricing.
